Morelos León Celis

Morelos León Celis was born on April 11, 1981. in Oaxaca, Mexico.

León studied the Bachelor of Fine Arts in the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving ENPEG “La Esmeralda” of the National Institute of Fine Arts INBA and the Master of Visual Arts in the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico FAD – UNAM. He has made artistic residencies in various contemporary art research and production centers, among which the stay at the Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo ECA-USP of Brazil in 2013 and the one held at HESTIA Art Residency & Exhibition Bureau, in Belgrade, Serbia. 2018. He has shown his work individually in exhibitions such as: Captive Forms, Galeria Luis Adelantado. Mexico City, 2016; Reflections before the gods, Gallery 123 / Program 1M1A, Mexico City. 2016; Solar Matter, Museum of Oaxacan Painters MUPO, Oaxaca, Mexico. 2013.

He has been awarded the Young Creators Program FONCA in the disciplines of Alternative Media (2006-2007) and Sculpture (2008-2009) respectively. Currently a professor at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving ENPEG “La Esmeralda” of the National Institute of Fine Arts INBA in Mexico City.

Morelos León Celis participated in our Art-Residency program and his research in Belgrade, was finalized as a group exhibition “Agon, when did we forget to play?”. With artist Predrag Terzić, he also collaborated on a performance “Basketball Musical Strategy”.
