We are pleased to announce our participation at Drawing Now Art Fair taking place from March 23rd until March 26th 2023 at Le Carreau du Temple, Paris. We will be presenting the “Case Study Series” (2018-2022) by Serbian artist Biljana Đurđević.

Presented as part of Đurđević’s solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, the “Case Study Series” reflects on authoritarian regimes, surveillance, the exercise of power and the conditions of labor. Drawing from George Orwell’s “1984” novel that adorns Djurdjevic’s work, there is a strong aesthetic and narrative in her oeuvre.

We are pleased to announce our participation at Zona Maco art fair taking place from February 8th-12th at Centro Citibamex in Mexico City. We will be presenting the “Case Study Series” (2018-2022) by Serbian artist Biljana Djurdjevic and “Battle Cry Series” by Spanish artist Daniel Garcia Andujar.

Presented as part of Djurdjevic’s solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, the “Case Study Series” reflects on authoritarian regimes, surveillance, the exercise of power and the conditions of labor. Drawing from George Orwell’s “1984” novel that adorns Djurdjevic’s work, there is a strong aesthetic and narrative in her oeuvre.

Daniel Garcia Andujar’s “Battle Cry Series” examines how in a world saturated with images, media hits all kinds of advertising intrusions and how marketing techniques of political propaganda have evolved and have been personalized through sophisticated algorithms that allow our governments and institutions, political power, power in general, to continue filtering their propaganda as a global channel of imposition for interpellation, hegemony and homogeneity.

The EJES section is committed to hybrid and transdisciplinary projects, young galleries, new proposals and in-transition spaces involved with artistic practices that reflect current society’s “here and now”. It will be focused on solo and up to three artists’ proposals.

Curator: Direlia Lazo (Havana, 1984) is an independent curator based in Miami. Founder and Director of independent art initiatives such as Havana Art Weekend in Havana and more recently Together in Miami.

We are pleased to announce our participation in the next edition of ART DUBAI art fair taking place in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, March 1st – 5th 2023.

Our booth will be located at the Bawwaba Section curated by Vipash Purichanont, independent lecturer and curator at Silpakorn University (Thailand). Meaning gateway in Arabic, the Bawabba section serves as a portal to discover works created in the past year or specifically for the fair with a reading of the current artistic developments across wide geographical scopes in “The Global South”, via ambitious solo presentations.

Domingos de Barros Octaviano (São Paulo, 1985) will present his series of paintings titled Jangadas which deconstruct the of “jangada”, a traditional fishing boat (or a sailing raft) made of wood used in the northern region of Brazil, along with other works which tell the narrative of the Sambaqui people.

We are pleased to announce our participation in the next edition of ZONA MACO art fair taking palce in Mexico City, February 8-12, 2023. Our booth will be located at the EJES Section curated by Direlia Lazio (La Habana, 1984). We will be presenting a project by Daniel García Andújar (Almoradí, 1966) and Biljana Djurdjević (Belgrade, 1973) that deals with the conditions of work labour throughout history and in the capitalist system as well as the position of the artist within our current economy.

Hestia Art Residency & Exhibitions Bureau is pleased to be a partner in the Manifesta 14 Western Balkans Project: Co-Producing Common Space and Shaping Formations of Solidarity in the Western Balkans and Beyond, co-funded by the European Union.

The International Foundation Manifesta, the initiator of Europe’s only nomadic cultural biennial and initiator of the Manifesta 14 Western Balkans Project, is collaborating with the City of Prishtina, Kosovo to develop Manifesta 14 Prishtina which will open its doors from the 22nd of July to the 30th of October 2022.

Organised for the occasion of the biennial, the International Foundation Manifesta has set up the Manifesta 14 Western Balkans Project which aims to enlarge the outreach and duration of the European Nomadic Biennial by developing a cross-regional collaborative platform including a vast array of cultural and civic activities across the region. An integral objective of the project is to open up the Western Balkan to create a project that breaks the confines of isolated cultural infrastructures and networks.

Liking architecture, urban planning, human rights, arts and culture, the Manifesta 14 Western Balkans Project proposes a plethora of diverse activities in 2021 and 2022 ranging from in-depth cultural research, expert talks and conferences to exhibitions and events across the region.

The partner network of the Manifesta Western Balkans Project promotes a politics of care between different communities in the Western Balkans and aims to stimulate broader cross-border network structures, where knowledge production and local expertise can thrive.

The activities in the development process will be the result of close collaborations between the International Foundation Manifesta, The Netherlands and nine partners from the Western Balkans:
